Timing Tools - Haisu Wang

Timing tools are the most valuable invention because, without them, we would not have an accurate understanding of time.

In the primitive era, people observed the sun's light and shadow to create basic timing tools, such as sundials and water clocks. These simple timing tools were easy to make and met the needs of people's agricultural lifestyles. They allowed people to understand the changing seasons, plan their farming activities accordingly, and predict tides for fishing.

On top of it, the industrial revolution witnessed the development of mechanical clocks and watches, which significantly improved accuracy and were also widely used in industrial production. Moreover, through these tools, accurate time became a critical variable in the formula for labour productivity, allowing capitalists to exploit our labour more efficiently. :P Finally, timing tools are no longer limited to their functional purpose but are also involved in fashion industries and come with commercial values.

In my opinion, timing tools are the most important invention since time itself is an intangible concept that cannot be seen or touched. It is just because people were aware of the existence of "time", and then they invented timing tools and quantified it, enabling "time" to become a concept we can understand.
