To Open Up To Tourism Or Not - Nonlawan Nithikasem (Nadia)

Do you agree that allowing visitors in will raise up a generation of conservationists who will advocate for the conservation of such areas?

The pristine natural areas are an important part for tourism that could bring a large amount of money to boost each country’s economy. Nowadays, many people tend to be close to natural places more and more, for adventurous and finding peace purposes, through hustle and bustle life. Therefore, visiting natural places are included in many tourism’s schedules, both domestic and foreign visitors. In my opinion, I strongly agree that allowing visitors, particularly the younger generation, would help to contribute to the preservation of the natural areas. for these several reasons.

As allowing more visitors to have self-experiences of each natural place, could enhance their better understanding of how its beautiful and important, which in turn create the sense of more awareness to conserve it. For example, one of the most popular tourist attractions among teenagers is a national park that many people would choose for camping and enjoy their barbecue night under the seas of stars. Moreover, the more they trekking wandering around the natural areas, the more they could see the values of its importance and beauty, and immerse themselves. Therefore, they could easily protect and conserve and feel that this is also their responsibility to pass onto these natural gems for the future generation.

What’s more, many underestimated natural wonders could be more widespread promoted on social media, by people visiting. Thus, many natural places would receive higher attention and be discovered as unseen marvelous natural areas. Indeed, this also helps to boost the economy locally, regionally, even globally, with their voluntary support by the visitors online. The more acknowledgement of each natural area online will bring more conservationists who will advocate themselves to conserve these places in the future in return.

  3. Agreed, both giving young people the opportunity to visit pristine wilderness areas and publicizing such areas can allow people to know them and want to protect them. How though can such areas be protected if the influx of visitors is too great and how can they be protected from visitors who don't act responsibly when visiting sites of natural wonder & for instance leave their rubbish behind?

  4. Yeah, if young generation did not have the experience and understanding in pristine natural areas, they would not understand why they need to protect these kind of stunning views.
