Market Day Debrief - Kana Kawamura

I enjoyed the OUSA Market. The thing I most enjoyed was the game for free drinks. I couldn’t get the drink, but it was fun for me. Also, I was surprised about there are origami earrings. Those are made by the Chinese.

I learned there are lots of earrings and necklaces. I think this market is similar to free market in Japan.

    I didn't realize the origami works. We can feel the variety of the nationalities by the accessories which were sold;)

   I think that the advantage and disadvantage of surveillance technology is the debatable problem. In my opinion, the technology of the CCTV camera makes our life much safer. If there was no CCTV camera around the city, there might be a lot of crimes. For example, in the supermarket, it could be much easier to stole the stuffs. In case of on the street at night, the possibility of happened to meet suspicious person would be rise. According to above, the technology of CCTV camera makes our life safer and thanks to it, we don't have to much scared of stranger.   I think surveillance technology is necessary for our safety. However, it can be dangerous thing.  That technology is very useful to prevent crime and keep cities safe. In fact, there are so many CCTV cameras all over my country. And I have never been involved in crime. That tells us thanks to them, we can live more peacefully. However, some of them make me uncomfortable. For example, when I realize that someone is watching my movement, shopping habits and myself, I feel scared even if I don’t have nothing to hide. In other words, I worry that someone can identify me if my personal information is leaked.  In short, surveillance technology is important, but I feel that our privacy may be invaded.

   Today's market was fun because there were a lot of shops. I saw accessory shops and clothes shops and tried a game, too.  It was the most interesting that many of the accessories were made by people. Both of the students and the sellers seemed to enjoy the market.  I felt this market was one of the interesting cultures for the students and the local people in New Zealand.
